We refinish quite a number of kitchens with white cabinets and other light colors. A very popular option these days, white cabinet finishes come in a variety of shades and styles, from cream colors to glazes and faux finishes. We’ve included a number of samples below which comprise a rather small representation of the kitchens which we’ve refinished with white cabinets or other light colors. Many of our clients started with contractor grade oak cabinetry and wanted a face-lift for their kitchen without the hefty price tag which comes with replacing their cabinets. Benefits of White Cabinets
A classic look which never goes out of style, white cabinets lend elegance to your kitchen. If you’ve got dark counter tops, white cabinets help to accent them. Light colored cabinets reflect light and brighten the kitchen as well as go with a variety of styles. White cabinets are timeless. They go well with just about any decorative style and create a warm and elegant feel for the room. If you have a smaller kitchen, white or light colored cabinets will help mitigate the visual space they occupy. In short, a light colored kitchen will be in style for years to come. There are a few items to consider when finishing in light colors.
- Dirt shows more readily on lighter colors. This is true for any light colored surface – not just cabinets. Keep this in mind if you have small children or pets.
- Cabinet wear shows more readily on lighter colors. If your kitchen gets a large amount of use, you may want to take this into account.
- Lighter colors reflect light. If your kitchen has a lot of ambient light, lighter cabinets will accentuate that light.
